In 1979, he created Mobile Suit Gundam which came to be a colossal success, propelling him to fame. Being one of the most famous directors from Nippon Sunrise, he then went on to realize an innumerate number of series including Space Runaway Ideon, Aura Battler Dunbine, Heavy Metal L-Gaim, Round Vernian Vifam, but also more recently Brain Powered and Overman King Gainer.

Yasuhiko Yoshikazu
Born in Hokkaïdo on the 7th of December 1977, Yoshikazu Yasuhiko began to work in the japanese animation industry in 1967 with Mushi Production, the studio created and headed by Osamu Tezuka. It was there that he met Yoshiyuki Tomino, with whom he will then collaborate on a lot of animes.

As a freelance artist, he became the author of both fantastic and historical manga (Venus Wars, Jeanne, Alexander the Great, Jesus Christ) which gave him a great deal of popularity in Japan. Moreover, he worked in various different posts in the Japanese animation industry, designing the characters for series such as Combattler V, Yuusha Raideen, and also he took the job of director of animation and character design for films like Venus Wars, Crusher Joe, Arion, for TV series such as Giant Gorg, etc.

Very recently, he returned to the Gundam Universe to create a manga for Kadokawa again about the very early days of the first Gundam series, called “Gundam the Origin”.

Joining Nippon Sunrise towards the end of the 70’s, Super Machine Zambot 3 (1977) was his first work for the company, after that he worked on Mobile Suit Gundam in 1979. His futuristic style (at the time) allowed him to work on the following series once he finished work on Mobile Suit Gundam: Armored Troops Votoms, Blue Gale Xabungle, Metal Armor Dragonar, etc…
