  Blue Cosmos

Amongst the anti-Coordinator groups, Blue Cosmos is without a doubt the most extreme and active group. According to their ideology, genetic alterations violently disrupts the natural order of life thus Coordinators must be exterminated “for the preservation of our blue and pure world.”

This organisation, originally a group dedicated to the protecting the environment, radically changed its strategies after George Glenn, the first Coordinator who achieved countless amazing feats, released the secrets behind genetic modification to the world. The group then organised assassinations and attacks against people who were genetically modified as well as the medical professionals who supported George Glenn’s idea of genetic enhancement. Blue Cosmos is rumoured to be both controlled and financed from the shadows by the conglomerate “Azrael”, a powerful industrial group that is one of the main weapons manufacturers for the Earth Alliance.

  The Naval Battle of Casablanca

Following the construction of the Carpentaria base (in northern Australia), which was finally completed on the 20th of May in the Cosmic Era year 70, ZAFT begun to expand their control of the Earth. Two days after completing the base, a group of submarine transports were ordered to head in the direction of Mediterranean and surrounding waters. On the 25th of May of the same year, the submarines engaged in combat with the Earth Alliance near Casablanca. It was during this battle that the underwater Mobile Suits, the GOOhNs, were introduced to the battlefield – which helped turn this naval battle into a great victory for ZAFT. Upon gaining control of the Mediterranean – ZAFT built a new base in Gibraltar. With this base, it allowed ZAFT forces to attack locations such as Africa where one of the Alliance’s Mass Drivers was located.

  Ultimate Coordinator

The genetic engineers created the first coordinators always aimed to create what they called an « Ultimate Coordinator ». In effect, if the coordinators are physically and mentally superior to ordinary humans, the “naturals”, their development in embryonic form is always affected by other factors such as the mother’s womb and her diet during pregnancy. To eliminate this variable, the researcher Ulen Hibiki developed an artificial womb designed to raise the babies to be “biologically perfect”: the ultimate coordinators. These babies would then grow without external influences except for the scientists who could have complete control over the genetic structure of the child. Of all the embryos that served as test subjects for Hibiki, only one of his sons, by the name of Kira, survived.

  Superior Evolutionary Element Destined-factor (SEED)

The SEED factor allegedly determines the evolution of a species. Although its existence hasn’t been proven, the SEED factor is central to a good number of scientific controversies in scientific circles. In theory, those who have the SEED factor have reached a new stage of human evolution. This ability is not isolated to one species of humans, it applies equally to Naturals and Coordinators.

  Hawk of Endymion

The nickname of the elite Earth Alliance pilot, Mu La Flaga. During the battle of Grimaldi he downed five GINNs, fighting machines said to be invincible. This confrontation, which took place on the Moon in the crater of Endymion, is where he earned the surname of “The Hawk of Endymion”. This battle also left Mu as the sole survivor of an elite section of Earth Alliance pilots that controlled Moebius Zero units.
